The Rishard B. Harvey Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the life of Rishard B. Harvey, whose promising future was tragically cut short in a car accident. While his journey ended far sooner than anyone could have imagined, the values he lived by integrity, compassion, leadership,and a commitment to excellence continue to inspire all who knew him. Through
this scholarship, we invest in Hampton University students who reflect
those same qualities, creating opportunities that carry Rishard's
impact forward for generations to come.
THE MAN BEHIND THE MISSION
Rishard B. Harvey was the kind of person who made others feel seen. His joyful spirit, genuine kindness, and magnetic personality left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. From a young age, he approached life with confidence, curiosity, and an eagerness to learn. Whether he was exploring his love for animals, competing in sports, serving as a lifeguard, or simply making those around him laugh, Rishard embraced each opportunity with enthusiasm and authenticity. His love for God, devotion to his family, and ability to build meaningful relationships became the foundation of the young man he was becoming.
As a proud Hampton University student, Rishard continued to grow into a thoughtful leader with a servant's heart. He pursued his education with purpose, discovering new passions while remaining deeply connected to his community through the Hampton University Choir, the Men's Caucus, and the National Association of Black Accountants. He believed in showing up for others, leading with humility, and living life with intention. Those who knew Rishard remember not only what he accomplished, but how he made people feel—with encouragement, laughter, warmth, and an unwavering belief that every day was an opportunity to become better.
